MAJOR THREAT TO THE ENVIRONMENT
RFK JR. IS THREATENING TO HAND THE WHITE HOUSE BACK TO DONALD TRUMP, WHO IS COMMITTED TO ROLLING BACK VITAL EFFORTS IN THE FIGHT AGAINST CLIMATE CHANGE.
RFK Jr. was thrilled at the prospect of joining Trump’s first administration, which was an unmitigated disaster for the environment. A second Trump administration could have a profoundly negative impact on the fight against climate change:
FACT: Trump’s first administration dismantled major climate policies and rolled back more than 100 rules governing clean air, water, wildlife and toxic chemicals.
FACT: If he wins a second term, Trump’s agenda is expected to be guided by the conservative Heritage Foundation, whose “Project 2025” vision calls for disbanding the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy and the Clean Energy Corps, and eviscerating existing climate programs while increasing our reliance on fossil fuels.

RFK Jr. undermines important environmental causes and spreads mistrust of climate science by conflating them with conspiracy theories he pushes for his personal profit.

RFK Jr. is an environmental hypocrite. He opposes the Inflation Reduction Act – the largest investment in reducing carbon pollution in U.S. history – and takes anti-environmental stances when it personally benefits him.
FACT: RFK Jr. wants to roll back Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act and its climate change investments, which have created more than 170,000 new jobs and, along with the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, are expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 1 billion tons in 2030.
FACT: RFK Jr.’s platform includes radical digital currency policies that would lead to a significant increase in the use of Bitcoin, which consumes an enormous amount of energy and produces vast quantities of carbon emissions. Despite originally claiming he was not an investor in cryptocurrency, RFK Jr.’s financial disclosures revealed that he held hundreds of thousands of dollars in Bitcoin, meaning he could financially benefit from his own crypto platform that includes exempting Bitcoin from capital gains taxes.
FACT: RFK Jr. joined the Koch Brothers in opposing a wind farm near his family’s waterfront compound that would have produced enough electricity to meet nearly 75 percent of demand on Cape Cod, Nantucket, and Martha’s Vineyard. Despite major environmental groups supporting the project, RFK Jr. opposed the wind farm in part because it would “damage the views.”
